Serena Williams just lost her first round match and that’s not really the point of this rant. Nothing is sadder than people who don’t know when to retire gracefully — especially mega millionaires. Both of the Williams sisters are past their use by dates significantly. They were great in their day but now they are just depriving young women from a spot in tournaments and especially majors.

Today Serena lost in over three hours and in the end her ass was dragging. If she would have won, I doubt she could have effectively competed in her next match and so I was glad she lost because it would have been tragic to have deprived her opponent, Tan, to continue when she clearly couldn’t. If Serena had come out and destroyed her basically obscure opponent then I would have applauded but she is way past her prime and should retire!
