Today there was a hearing on the Hill with the tech titans to supposedly discuss their regulation of speech on their respective platforms.
Now I am not going to rant at length about the nonsense that occurred. Most congressmen had no clue what they were talking about. Quell surprise! My rant is about a subject I have hammered before, especially with respect to Hannity. If you’re going to ask a question, you should anticipate the answer and be prepared to follow up and destroy the bogus answer. (This is for you Mary.)
Today a Republican congressman asked Facebook CEO Zuckerberg that if they weren’t censoring speech why did they take down Trump Jr. account for putting up the video of the actual physicians talking about their success in using hydroxychloroquine. And his utterly predictable and incompetent response was that there are some studies that claim that it is not effective and could be dangerous and so they had to do it. Now if the questioner had his shit together he would have said. Ok but these are actual physicians with actual data and the question of the effectiveness of this drug is anything but settled and by deleting their speech isn’t it possible that many people might die because they didn’t know about what could be an effective treatment. Aren’t you just censoring people who support hydroxychloroquine because Trump endorsed it?
Update. It appears that the congressman asked Zuckerberg about something that happened on Twitter. However Zuckerberg answered the question as reported above.
Further update: it turns out the republican congressman who fumbled the question received campaign contributors from google and Facebook
