I would love to see a statute that would require a judge to pay the difference between what his appraisal was and the actual appraisal of a panel of experts. The asshole in New York would never have done what he did because it would have resulted in his bankruptcy. That law would never be passed unfortunately.
There does happen to be at least one Supreme Court decision that would support this. When you get an assessment that your car is valued at X , you can say fine pay me that amount. Similarly with respect to the valuation of your property, although it’s extremely unlikely because properties are generally valued at less than full value, you can say sold and they have to pay you that amount or change the valuation.
