RECESS APPOINTMENTS

Now let me explain to you who may not know that recess appointments are actually in the constitution. What is a recess appointment? It’s a presidential appointment made while the house and the senate were in recess for ten or more straight days and allows a president to appoint someone who would normally require confirmation from the Senate without such confirmation. Such an appointee serves until the next Congress unless he is confirmed by the Senate in the interim.

Why was this in the constitution, because as I think I’ve talked about before, the Congress was never envisioned as a full time job. The original Congress, btw that’s the house and the Senate together, met a couple times a year and then went back to their farms or plantations or businesses. It was never envisioned that we would have a permanent political class. And under that scenario, it would happen quite often that the Congress would not be in session when a necessary vacancy came up and they didn’t want to handicap the president.

And just for your information, recess appointments were common up until I think one of the Bushes when suddenly the Congress decided to never recess although they did but did some nonsense to pretend that they weren’t. And the Supremes agreed with them blocking Obama appointments and now they can prevent recess appointments without agreement from both the Senate and the House. Now we have both and if they recognize the mandate of the election, they will have a recess quickly after January 20 and let Trump appoint his cabinet and then proceed to go through the normal confirmation process to determine if they can stay. It’s important because it will allow Trump and his people to hit the ground running. If they didn’t, it could take months or years to get his people in place.

Hell with a recess, Gaetz can get in and clean house at DOJ.

MATT GAETZ

I think Trump blew this one. I appreciate that Gaetz is a loyal dedicated defender of Trump, but when I first heard about his nomination to be Attorney General I thought that it was a mistake because he carries a lot of baggage that could keep him from being confirmed. And then I thought it made sense because Gaetz is certainly a person who will clean house at DOJ.

And then I looked up his legal background because I never remember him mentioning it. And suffice it to say that he doesn’t really have one. He spent a couple years at a law firm in Fort Walton Beach, and then went into politics. I could never vote to confirm someone for AG that has no prosecutorial experience. The position is for the head prosecutor for the country and I don’t believe that you are qualified if you’ve never prosecuted a single criminal case. Apparently they disagree with me in California or at least did back in SK’s time.

But I think Trump made a big mistake here. There are plenty of qualified people who he could have selected. Maybe there will be a big enough outrage that he’ll reconsider. I hope so.

FOLLOW ON FOR THE PENTAGON

I was thinking about doing this and then I got a text from one of you which I will discuss later on. So I looked up the equivalency between my senior executive service grade and what would be my military rank and it was a two star general. Now let’s compare the benefits the military equivalency gets. I had a decent office and two secretaries who were not my personal secretaries but for the entire division. I didn’t have an aide or a public affairs officer or a paid mansion paid for by taxpayers with gardeners and landscapers and housekeepers and free meals at the officer’s mess and free air travel on private military planes. Get your own coffee and wipe your own ass and use your salary to pay for your own house and expenses. This is just one example of how bloated the pentagon budget is.

Now the text I received from one follower who I actually worked with in my agency and still lives in the DC area was concerned with the depression in the DC area that could result from getting rid of all the unnecessary bureaucrats. And I saw that in a few places today. My answer is that you have no right to have us pay you for a make work job. The federal government is not supposed to be a national welfare agency. And if Trump carries through on his promise to move all the agencies out of DC and to more appropriate places in the country where they will be surrounded by the people they are supposed to serve, the same thing will happen. Hell you could hire them to help build the wall like with the CCC in the thirties.

Now one of her concerns, and btw she is retired and would only be affected by the reduction in the inflated real estate prices in the area, is that there would be a lot of people out of work and where would they get jobs. Well to start with Trump is going to deport a lot of people which would free up a lot of jobs, and there are a few million skilled jobs that are unfilled at this time. Learn a skill that is worthwhile and you’ll be fine.

Another benefit is that it would get all the federal rats out of northern Virginia and make that state red again. It would probably have a large effect on Maryland also. Anyway I’m not concerned about people who are getting paid by my tax dollars to do essentially nothing.

THE CABINET

Hats off to Trump for demonstrating that he is a quick learner and knows what’s needed this time around to get his agenda through. The only real question I have is whether the senators can elect Scott instead of Thune, who would be a RINO disaster. If Scott gets the majority leader position, it will be all systems go.

As I have said many times, Trump made several bad personnel choices in his first term. He’s learned and is assembling a terrific cabinet. Homan has put the fear of the lord in all the illegals and their Dem supporters.

I literally yelled out loud when he nominated Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense. It was a total shock but an outstanding choice. When you couple that with Trump putting Musk and Ramaswamy in charge of the Department of government efficiency, you have an opportunity to build up our defense without increasing the budget. As I have said many times, you could fire 50% of the people in the Pentagon and not lose anything. When you carry that out throughout DOD, there are billions of dollars available to beef up our actual defense. Government contracts could also be greatly reduced. These two guys can do it and Hegseth will support it.

Mike Huckabee is a great choice for ambassador to Israel. God knows we’ve all seen enough commercials for the IFCJ to know his bona fides.

I have a little concern with his appointment on Rubio for State because he’s been a throw money at Ukraine advocate, but I think he will follow his orders from Trump. And he is a smart guy.

All of his appointments have been people who actually are qualified for their appointments, as opposed to Magoo basing everything on DEI idiots who couldn’t even spell the name of their departments much less know anything about what they actually do. They were focused on woke bs and not their actual jobs.

There are still several important nominations to go and one I am particularly interested in is the Attorney General. Hegseth’s appointment gives me hope that my nominee Pam Bondi will get the nod. She’s qualified and is a big Trump supporter and will clean house at DOJ.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Yesterday I came across an article discussing the best charities to donate to support veterans and I’m sure it will come as no shock to you that Tunnels to Tower was up at the top, but the thing that surprised me because it discussed charities that were not good to donate to because of their high overhead. And the one that surprised me the most was the Purple Heart Foundation which was touted here as a good place for donations to help western North Carolina after the hurricane. It turns out that 94% of their donations go to overhead. It surprised me because I always thought they were legit. Just goes to show that you need to check out any charities you donate to actually get your money to where you want it to go.

4B

Just for shits and giggles let me talk about the 4B movement. In case you don’t know what this is, it’s a group of women who are cutting off their hair and shaving their heads and refusing to have sex with men for the next four years because Trump won. I guess it’s the modern day version of Lysistrata. The only problem is that if you have watched any of the montages is that men haven’t had sex with them ever. One woman was so obese that I don’t think anyone has ever had sex with her. Big loss. But what really tickles me is that they all say, I haven’t had sex with men for the last four years and I’m not going to have sex with them for the next four years. Okay lesbians aren’t going to do something they were never going to do anyway. No loss.

GREAT NEWS

Trump today announced on truth social that Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo will not be part of his administration and that is great news and demonstrates that he has learned from mistakes in his first term.

Now I have being saying forever that Nikki is much closer to a RINO than a MAGA devotee. She’s out for herself only and only endorsed Trump at the very end to try to remain relevant even though he did not allow her to campaign with him. She’s a phony and good on Trump.

Pompeo is a different matter. He’s been considered a potential candidate for Secretary of State and has been a favorite on Fox. However I recently saw a couple of articles exposing him as a supporter of the J6 nonsense and another where he made a comment that we need to move past celebrities on the right and get back to serious politicians. Martha McCallum pushed him on it saying you’re referring to Trump and he dodged the obvious. After seeing that I was seriously concerned that Trump might make this mistake again and proving once again that he’s learned from his employment mistakes in his first term, and we can look forward to an administration that is all on the same page. AMEN!

ONE MORE THING

And I’m sure that I have mentioned this before but the nonsense about giving students a day off and cookies and milk because Trump won, is just that. Back in my day when the Kent State shooting happened, and I think that was reprehensible, all the colleges on campus canceled classes except Engineering and Business. We went to class.
