This is about the sea change in Virginia. I saw newly sworn in governor Youngkin speak today and it was both refreshing and inspirational because he like Trump is actually carrying through on his campaign promises.
For background purposes, I lived in the Maryland suburbs of DC for almost thirty years and for many of them we had Connie Morella as our congressional representative and she was very popular with everyone and Republican but eventually the Dems gerrymandered her. And the reason I bring this up is because back then Virginia was pretty red. In fact my friends and senior partners in major DC law firms used to kid me about being disenfranchised because I lived in Maryland and they lived in Virginia.
How the worm turned on! Now finally it’s turning back and I couldn’t be happier. I expect a comment from Riggo because he was a Virginian.
As a staunch Republican I am quite pleased that Youngkin is going to lead the Commonwealth for four years. Our children were born at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond and are native Virginians. We lived there from 1978 to 1997 and made many friends. We would still live there, but a job change brought us to North Carolina. Mrs. Rigg is happy to be back in NC (she was born and raised in Charlotte). I may have mentioned this before, I met Governor Doug Wilder one day and he could not have been any nicer during our brief encounter. Also, Mrs. Rigg (Mary) met Chuck Robb when working at the Science Museum of Virginia. She said seemed like a genuine person and gave her his total attention while speaking with her – we voted for him. In our house the most qualified candidate gets our vote.
